A few days ago, while drinking coffee under a mango tree on Pemba, a thought came to one of us. How the world had changed, and yet in Pemba - the smaller of Zanzibar's two islands - the food still comes on Dhows. In these spice Islands, we depend more on the weather than the price of oil. The world does not affect much of Zanzibar, and yet we have so many guests from the world. What a wonderful thought. An archipelago of Islands unaffected and still beautiful and so close to Africa. And so we decided to issue an invitation. A warm Zanzibari invitation to visit our Archipelago. Come to Zanzibar in 2009/2010 and we will look after you. There are no two ways about it. Zanzibar is the place to be in 2009-10. We have everything from the most untouched reefs in the world in Pemba, to historic stone town, to the thriving, pumping café del Kendwa scene, to pure, barefoot, exclusive luxury at Kilindi. When it comes to holidays - the easing of stress, the Zanzibar archipelago does have it all. Well almost all.... Like most other warm oceanic islands, we don't have wide open plains with lions and elephants roaming around. But we do have two airlines… that can fly you on scheduled flights to the word famous Selous game reserve in 50 minutes. The expanse of the Serengeti national park is only 110 minutes away and Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro, is even closer. The Zanzibar archipelago sits in deep blue water, but it is only a score of nautical miles off the coast of Africa and the wonders of the Tanzanian mainland. Any ZATI member can organise your mainland safari or climbing itinerary, or put you in touch with someone who can. Zanzibar combines the best of both worlds. Adventure and Tranquility, but only on demand!
